If you are a contractor working on site for a long period of time you will know that you face a wide range of gradual pollution risks. You will also know that any accident that has an impact on the environment can significantly damage your business’ finances and reputation.

Environmental Impairment insurance covers against the gradual pollution of own and third-party land, covering claims for injury, property damage and costs resulting from pollution, including reputational remediation.

Over the last 30 years we have seen a significant rise in the cover we provide for general, speciality, other contractors and specialist trades to comply with funder requirements. In our experience the highest risks occur primarily on brown field sites, at old petrol stations, gas works, scrap yards and car breakers for example. Typical hazards include mobile fuel tanks and the accidental release of chemicals and toxic gases from broken pipes.
